MISSION STATEMENT:

Foundation for Intercultural Travel, Inc. is dedicated to promoting peace between nations by fostering cultural awareness through student exchange, one host family and one student at a time.  By facilitating the bringing together of one nation’s children with another nation’s families and making them one, F.I.T. works passionately in an effort to further the concept of PEACE THROUGH UNDERSTANDING.

ABOUT F.I.T.:

F.I.T. was established and is managed by highly experienced individuals who have dedicated themselves to providing the very best that student exchange has to offer.  F.I.T.'s Executive staff has well over 30 years in the student exchange business.  In fact, we established F.I.T. because after all these years watching how the student exchange industry has evolved, we felt that our time has come to elevate the expectations of, and for those who will become involved in High School student exchange!  Now we want to share this vision with all those interested in getting involved with student exchange, whether as a student, a host family, a program volunteer or a sending agency seeking a program that puts its students first.  F.I.T's President and CEO, Mr. Ted Bennett a retired executive whose Wall Street career spanned over 20 years has experienced student exchange from every angle possible.  From being a host parent to fifteen students from as many countries, to acting as a Local Area Representative and then on to becoming the National Director for a large student exchange organization, Mr. Bennett understands this industry as well as anyone.  Mr. Bennett's own son was an exchange student giving him insight as to what it is like for the exchanging student and his/her natural family.  Now Mr. Bennett wants to make sure that all F.I.T. exchange participants enjoy the benefits inherent in High School student exchange.  It was he who coined our program's motto of "Students First,"  a philosphy he practices as our program's Responsible Officer (RO) and one he insists is practiced by our entire staff.

F.I.T., a U.S. State Department designated exchange visitor program is a 501 (c)  (3) non-profit charitable New York Corporation.  F.I.T. is also a full voting member
of Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET). In addition, on the basis of material submitted and reviewed, the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel grants FULL listing to Foundation for Intercultural Travel, Inc. in the 2008-2009 Advisory List.  The CSIET mark certifies that this organization complies with the standards set forth in the CSIET’s standards for international educational travel programs..

We're proud to count some of the world's premiere exchange programs as our partners. F.I.T. is very selective when it comes to choosing our International Partner Programs.  We feel that both a sending agency, and a receiving agency must share the same vision, STUDENTS FIRST!
Our sister program, F.I.T. BRASIL practices all the same philosophies throughout South America.

We're ready to help YOU become involved in the very exciting world of Student Exchange.  Be you a teen thinking about becoming an Academic High School Foreign Exchange Student, a 12 year old who wants to see some of the world, a family considering opening your hearts and home to an international teen/child or someone who just wants to be a part of the culture and excitement as a Local Area Representative, F.I.T. can help you learn more so you can make the decision that's right for YOU.  Once you decide to get involved, you'll be glad it was with F.I.T. because you'll be treated like family.

What makes us so different?  Well it's pretty simple...  SUPPORT.  We take great pride in providing the very highest level of support to all the particpants involved in the exchange, the students, the host families, our family of Local Area Representatives and our overseas Partner Programs.  The importance of the level of support a student, host family or program volunteer receives from their program is immeasurable.  It very well can make the difference between a successful exchange and an unsuccesful one!  What else distinguishes us from the rest of the pack, we at F.I.T. work very hard to promote our U.S. teen outbound academic program.  For the most part, student exchange has been about 95% foreign teens coming to the U.S. and only 5% of American teens going overseas.  We feel that it is our responsibility to try to assist more American teens to experience life outside their country.  Lastly, but most importantly we pay extra special attention to EACH student, whether they be foreign or American, on an Academic program or a Cultural program.  Our students are future leaders and we feel it incumbant upon us to assure that each one is given the best opportunity to experience what this world has to offer!

We hope our website provides you with enough basic information, take your time navigating our site and we hope you enjoy what we have to offer.  Contact us if you need or want more information without obligation!  As we respect your right to privacy, any information you submit to us will be safe and secure and will not be given, loaned or sold to anyone, ever!
