What is FIYTO?

FIYTO is an open, world-wide, non-politcal and non-sectarian trade association. For qualifying companies and organizations, actively engaged in incoming or outgoing youth travel, FIYTO provides the pre-eminent professional forum to trade, exchange information and advance the interests of the young traveler. In its 47 year history, FIYTO has become the largest and most influential organization in the youth travel industry. Currently, FIYTO has 289 members.

Since its inception in 1951, the aim of FIYTO has been to promote educational, cultural and social travel among young people. Over the years, FIYTO has experienced significant growth in its membership and its members' turnover of travelers, tickets and overnights. Today, youth travel and tourism represents an estimated 20% of mainstream tourism. Towards the travel trade, international and governmental organizations, FIYTO advocates the special identity of young travelers and their right to affordable travel and travel related services.

FIYTO is a member of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the European Travel and Tourism Action Group (ETAG). FIYTO enjoys consultative and operational relations with UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. FIYTO is open to all types of organizations active in the field of youth travel and tourism. Members include language travel organizations, travel agencies, accommodation centers, tour operators, adventure travel companies, au pair agencies, transportation providers, hotel groups, HOMESTAY ORGANIZATIONS, educational travel groups, theme parks and many others.
