West Point Camping - April 17, 2004

Return to Britt's Home Page

After some weekend plans changed, we decided to do a one night campout at West Point Lake. We headed over around lunch time on Saturday with no reservations - hoping we could get a good site this early in the season. We did get a nice site on the water but with the lake a little low, it was too shallow a cove to tie boat up over night. So, we boated for a while on Saturday, reloaded boat on trailer and keep it in campsite overnight. We cooked meatloaf and peach cobbler in dutch ovens for supper. Next morning we did pancakes and bacon. Boated a little more Sunday afternoon and got home around 7:00pm Sunday.

Me and the Missus after getting back from boating on Saturday afternoon.
Ginger getting ready to relax.
The two dutch ovens cooking our supper. Closest one has the peach cobbler in it and other one has our meatloaf. Don't know why, but food sure tastes better when camping! Those are Sammy's feet!
A couple of ducks that waddled into the campsite on Sunday morning. They ate a little breakfast, took a nap and flew off.
A shot of the campsite on Sunday morning. If you look closely, you can see our visiting ducks.
Another campsite shot showing the where the boat camped.
Here's a shot Katie took Saturday evening looking over the lake from our campsite.
Here's a shot I took Sunday morning looking over the lake. I had no idea Katie had taken almost the same shot Saturday evening. I guess great minds think alike!!!
Here I am right after launching Sunday. I'm headed to the dock to pickup Ginger and the kids. Notice we still had the bimini on the short trailering supports. And YES, we take the fenders off before heading out into the lake.
