Middle Bass Island was formerly the home of Lonz Winery and is now the home of Middle Bass Island State Park. Along with the old Lonz Estate and related winery properties the park includes a mile of undeveloped shore line, glacial grooves and other natural features; wetlands and grasslands that house several endangered species of plants and animals; and an excellent safe harbor marina with plenty of transient dockage. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the 124 acre property is the largest tract of undeveloped land in the western basin of Lake Erie.
