Here's a close-up of one of the cylinders and valve
gear. I think it took a lot of motor oil on everything to get
it moving again. That explains the greasy look. This stuff doesn't
look that big in the photo, but these parts are massive. I don't
think there's a single piece in this photo that I could pick
up. I tried and they wouldn't let me :^) I get to working with
HO scale locomotives, and the valve gear and mechanism are so
fragile that it makes it hard to relate to these big "foundry"
parts. And that spring back there looks like it might as well
be a solid piece of steel with no "give" to it at all.
For a switcher, this is a large locomotive.
