
This is how a coal platform is built. This trestle is just east of Roan Street on Cherry Street in Johnson City, actually not technically a street in this section although you can drive on it. The massive legs are 12 x 12s. The stringers are 6 x 16s. There's my good old yard stick there, the black marks being the foot marks. This is probably how the historic coal and transfer trestle in the Johnson City yard was built. This trestle was gone in 1999.
