A Poem by Renee Ramsey, 1948 - 1995

There is a land of diamond streams
Of golden stars and silver moonbeams;
Ruby mountains rise so high,
Their sparkle caught in everyone's eye.

This land of emerald grasses fair
Has turquoise lakes just everywhere;
Crystal days and sapphire nights
Are commonplace, but beautiful sights.

Each raindrop is a perfect pearl,
Every snowflake falling in a platinum whirl;
This is a place of wonders abounding
Where all things are truly astounding.

In this place of coppery twilight
Where jade leaf'd trees are a delight,
One walks with Spirit, ever there
To learn, understand, and have love to share.

Oh, where is this land, perfect and fine?
I will search till I make it mine.
--Alas, this place out there is not;
Only in us can it be sought.

And finally, I say to you,
This land of beauty, do not woo,
For if you walk with Spirit great,
You will arrive at its front gate.
