Fred's Obituary

James Frederick Brown, 74, of Crozet, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
He was born August 10, 1933, in Staunton, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Hulvey Brown; his father, John Clemmer Brown; and a sister Hilda Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucille Mohler Brown; and sons, James Frederick Brown Jr. of Apex, North Carolina, Steven Michael Brown of Stuarts Draft, and William Clemmer Brown of Crozet.
He is also survived by his sister, Ramona Heslep of Brownsburg, Virginia; and grandson, Christopher Brown and his wife, Susan, and great-granddaughter, Madison of Waynesboro, Virginia.
He was employed by Sperry Marine of Charlottesville for 31 years. Prior to that he served in the United States Air Force, including a tour of duty in Korea. After retirement Fred spent much time collecting, re-building and restoring one-wheel garden tractors. His hobby developed friendships with other hobbyists throughout this country and abroad. He was an active member of the church community, including the Board of Deacons at Tabor Presbyterian Church, and most recently was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held at Olivet Presbyterian Church on Garth Road at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2008.
The family will meet friends following the service at a reception in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
