Sebago – Panther Mountains Sojourn

Moderately strenuous. We begin our sojourn at Lake Sebago toward Pine Meadow Lake, visit the Egg, climb Panther Mountain. and finish the hike along the Tuxedo Mount Ivy Trail. Rain, heavy snow or poor driving conditions cancel.

From Suffern @ I-287 & I-87N Interchange exit 15A: Take Rt 17 north to Sloatsburg, NY. Immediately north of Sloatsburg is a traffic light for Seven Lakes Drive. Proceed east on Seven Lakes Drive 4.2 miles. Lake Sebago boat lauch parking area is on the left side of the road.

Tiorati Tramp

Moderately strenuous. This is a great area to start a hike. There are so many options, therefore, the leader is going to surprise us. Join the leader as he tries this hike once again, canceled by rain twice in the past. Are we going to be surprised this time? Rain, heavy snow or poor driving conditions cancel.

Lake Tiorati Parking Area, Harriman State Park, NY 10911

From Suffern @ I-287 & I-87N Interchange exit 15A: Take Rt 17 north 4.5 miles to Sloatsburg, NY. Immediately north of Sloatsburg is a traffic light for Seven Lakes Drive. Proceed east on Seven Lakes Drive 10.4 miles to parking area on north side of Tiorati traffic circle.
From PIP north or south: From Long Mountain circle, take Seven Lakes Drive west for 3.7 miles until you reach the Tiorati traffic circle. The parking area is on north side of circle.

Elk Pen Onward

Moderately strenuous. For an opener we follow the AT over Green Pond Mt. to Island Pond, we squeeze through the Lemon Squeezer (if we can) or go around it, continue along the AT to the Surebridge Mine Rd. We will return via the Arden Surebridge Trail to the Elk Pen. Rain, heavy snow or poor driving conditions cancel.

From Suffern @ I-287 & I-87N Interchange exit 15A: Take Rt 17 north about 13 miles to the Arden Valley Road entrance to Harriman State Park on the right. Turn right and proceed 1/2 mile to parking area on right.
From NYS Thruway Exit 16: Proceed south on Rt 17 approx. 4 miles. Look for road to the left with Appalachian Trail crossing sign.

From Suffern @ I-287 & I-87N Interchange exit 15A: Take Rt 17 north 4.5 miles to Sloatsburg, NY. Immediately north of Sloatsburg is a traffic light for Seven Lakes Drive. Proceed east on Seven Lakes Drive 7.8 miles. There is a steep downhill entrance road to the parking area on the left side of the road.
