The Blank Billboard Series
A Photographic Series by Gregor Turk

This series of images depicting blank billboards documents my travels through undesirable territories- undesirable, at least, from an advertiser's perspective.

The stark rectangular void of the billboards contrast their surroundings and stand as monuments to insignificant places. They serve as an anti-map or as text-less legends offering little to the viewer in terms of grounding.

The original installation of Interstate 50, consisting of fifteen 30" by 45" (75 cm. x 115 cm.) ciba-chrome prints, was held at the City Gallery at Chastain in Atlanta, Georgia, from May 16 - July 3, 1998. Debra Wilbur was the curator.
