Blacks and Jews Together

"The Jews of Africa" presentation is a natural program to book for a Black/Jewish relations council evening. It is also a program that a Jewish group could sponsor to build bonds with the Africans and African-Americans in their community, and vice versa. The history of Black/Jewish relations is complex, frustrating and sometimes even too uncomfortable a topic to discuss. "The Jews of Africa" will enable honest discussion about the similarities and differences between the Jewish and the African experience. How different can Jews and Blacks be at the core if some Jews have black skin? Why is Jewish-American culture and African-American culture so different when biblical Jewish and traditional African culture is so similar? The "Jews of Africa" program will present these complex issues in an open, intelligent and accepting manner and help different parts of your community connect with one another.
