At this synagogue prayers are still read exclusively in the local language, Luganda, as opposed to the Moses Synagogue on Nabugoye Hill where "Rabbi" Gershom leads some prayers in Hebrew. In both synagogues congregants still sing melodies written by community founder, Semei Kakungulu, put to Luganda translations of the psalms.
