New Lebanon Baptist Church
Sargent, Georgia
est. 1874

The New Lebanon Baptist Church in Sargent. Hwy 16 NW out of Newnan, past Sargent, turn Left on Wagers Mill Rd., to Dyer Rd., turn Right and the Church and cemetery is on the Right. There are no early records and it is suspected that some of the graves are older than the church.  I suspect this cemetery started off as a family cemetery before becoming a church cemetery.  The cemetery is well maintained by the church.  There are graves well into the woodline along the north and west edges of the visible cemetery that are difficult to locate in the summer.  There is a small section of the cemetery on the south side of the road, opposite the main cemetery, but many of them are in the brush and difficult to see.  It is unclear if this cemetery belongs to the main cemetery, but those buried there are connected to the families across the street. Many of the graves are unmarked as is common in post Civil War cemeteries of the area.   It is believed that there are many more Madaris' in this cemetery but it will be practically impossible to identify their locations.
