William Maddera, wiu, 1772
In the Name of God Amen I William Maddera being sick
and weak of Body but ofperfect Memory Thanks be to
Almighty God for the same do make and ordain this my last Will
and Testament in manner following
I render and give my Soul to God from whom I received it Trusting
in the Merrits of his Dear Son for a full
Redemption of all of my sins - And as for my worldly goods as it
has pleased to bestow on me I give and bequeath
as follows - First I desire that my funeral expenses and just
Debts may be discharged
I give to my loving Wife Elizabeth one feather bed &
furniture half a dozen pewter plates & three dishes and the
use of my plantation during her Life or widowhood.
My Will is that at my wifes Death or marriage my Land shall be
sold and the money arriving from the Sale to be
Equally Devided among all my children Christopher Madders,
Samuel Madera, Bob Madera, James Madera,
Silviah Madera, Lenor Madera, Elizabeth Madera and Lucretia
Madera. -
My further Will is that my Negro James be hired out till
my son Christopher arrives to the Age ofTwenty one years
and the money arriving from the hire of the said Negro be for the
use of schooling and ??????? my children and when
my son Christopher shall come to age of Twenty one Years
then the said Negro James be sold and the money
arriving from the sale of the said Negro to be equally divided
between my Wife and Children above named - My
Will and desire is tha all my Estate not before mentioned be sold
and the Money Arriving from the Sale be used after
dischargeing all my Just Debts be equally Divided between my Wife
and all my Children -
Lastly I can dictate and appoint my loving Wife Elizabeth
and my Brother Joel Maddera and James Rae
Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all
other Wills at any time by me heretofore made as
Witn of my hand and ????? this Twenty fourth Day of June 1772
