Hovercrafts visit Altamaha

On Wednesday, April 11 two hovercrafts floated into Appling County. Harold Carter of Snellville and Stephen Mayor of Reedsville, West Virginia unloaded their hovercrafts at Deen's Landing on the Altamaha and put on a show for few spectators including Tourism Director Lynn Carter and County Manager Mike Cleland. The two men were planning a trip down the river to the Altamaha Park between Jesup and Brunswick. Both of the crafts featured two motors, one for lift and the other for thrust. In the left photo Harold Carter is shown taking Lynn Carter for a ride on the water. The right photo shows Mayor bringing his craft to a stop on the landing.
