                Lewis was a Cornet in the Revolution, he is listed in
                the Vouchers of Revolutionary Soldiers of N. C. from the
                Wilmington District, Voucher #1047, 24 March 1782, L 32-11-0.
                Married in Duplin and settled about 1788 on Lotts Creek, near
                Aarons and Portal, Georgia.  In 1792 Lewis Lanier was drowned in the
                Ogeechee River when returning from a visit to his brother;
                it is said that he was caught in a flash flood.  His widow,
                Margaret, made application August 16, 1794 for Letters of
                Administration "of Lewis Lanier late of Effingham, now Screven".

                   "Eloise Lanier Holland Nunnally, 94, of Atlanta. passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2006. 
                     She was born October 19, 1911, the daughter of Frank Lawton Lanier of Emanuel County
                     and Rosa Hollingsworth of Bulloch County.  She was a 1928 graduate of  Statesboro High
                     School.  She married Charlie B . Holland of Register, GA, and they had one son, Henry
                     Lawton Holland.  Upon Charlie's death in 1957, she left her beloved farm in Register for
                     Athens where she was employed by the University of Georgia.  Throughout her career in
                     the libraries of the University, Ms. Nunnally befriended literally hundreds of faculty and
                     students.  Days after her retirement in 1975, she married Mr. Joe Watson Nunnally, Sr. of
                     Bogart, GA.  The two traveled extensively throughtout the United States until Mr.  Nunnally's
                     death in 1991.  Beginning the final chapters of her life, Mrs. Nunnally then moved to Campbell
                     Stone Apartments in Atlanta to be closer to her son and grandchildren.  For over a decade she
                     was affectionately known as "The Muffin Lady" after she initiated the practice of welcoming all
                     new residents to Campbell Stone with a personal visit and muffins.  A kind, dear lady who always
                     had a funny story to share, she was always positive, always hopeful, always strong, as she faced
                     and conquered the trials of life.  She was an inspiration to others in attaining old age with grace,
                     humor, and dignity.  She is deeply loved, fondly remembered, and sorely missed already.  In addition
                     to her siblings and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Henry.  She is survived by two
                     grandchildren, T. Moseley of Marietta and H. Holland, along with his wife, Barbara, of Jonesboro;
                     four greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews and countless friends.  A memorial service
                     will be held in the chapoel of Campbell Stone Apartments in Buckhead on Tuesday, May 23, 2006,
                     at 3:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contrubutions can be made in memory of Elouise Nunnally to Campbell
                     Stone Apartments, 2911 Pharr Court, South, Atlanta, GA 30305."
