        Nancy Lanier Sloan was either 26 or 36 in 1850, 35 or 45 in 1860, and 54 or 64 in 1880,
        according to Census records.  Will use the 1850 date until we have proof of another Date of
        Birth; however, by using this date, Nancy was over 50 when her youngest two children
         were born.

    After Woodson died in 1927, Amanda raised her children with help from the oldest children and
    by becoming a Dress Maker.  Women came from all over just to say, "Amanda made my
    dress!"

    Until Amanda became ill in 1952, there was a big picture in an oval frame of Woodson in his
    Cavalry Uniform hanging in the living room.  The night she had the stroke, Woodson's picture fell
    off the wall.  The picture itself could not be saved as it crumbled into countless pieces.

        Evelyn was in the Zeigfield Follies in the early 1920's.  It is said that she stated that she would
        not reach her twenty-first birthday.  While she was in NYC, a hurricane struck.  While she
        was sleeping on the couch a window broke and Evelyn got drenched.  She probably died of
        pneumonia about age 20.

        Ollie was in the Navy during WWII.  He was a boxer and boxed in Madison Square Garden.
        While in the Navy, he was assigned to Special Services and participated in exhibition fights
        aboard various naval vessels during the war.  He contracted malaria while in the Pacific.

        1938-1941:  John joined the Merchant Marines at age 16; he lied about age to get in.
