Here's an experience from a nice guy named Lyman, from NC, that he said I could share
Hey... I saw Scott Bakula yesterday in Logan Airport in Boston, the B terminal, at the Starbucks. He and Chelsea Field were traveling together, very low key (he had dark glasses on and a baseball cap with the brim pulled down low). I asked Chelsea (didn't know that was who it was at the time) if that was Scott Bakula in a low voice. She nodded and smiled. I said "My wife is going to kill me!" again in a medium voice at best and she laughed. She went over to Scott, who asked her what I'd said, which she repeated. I stayed in line, trying my best not to stare and be the huge fanboy. :-)
Then he asked me (from about 5 feet away) why she would kill me, and (as usual) all intelligent thought fled from me as happens when a big star or famous person I like talks to me. I said something like "Because she's a big fan of Quantum Leap" (which is true). He grinned and laughed, and turned back to Chelsea, and that was all I thought was going to happen. Then a few moments later, Chelsea came and asked me what my wife's name was, and how it was spelled. At this point I realized Scott was going to give me a signature, so I got out of line (it was just Starbucks, after all!!) and went over to Scott, who had found a pen, and was signing one of those Starbucks brown cardboard cup holders that slip around a cup and prevent you from burning your hand.
He signed it "Stephanie, sorry I missed you!! Scott Bakula" and gave it to me. I uttered some other fanboy statement like "Oh I made it sound like I'm not a fan, I am too!". I wish I'd said something more like (from earlier on in the discussion too!) "She'll kill me because we're both big fans of your work!" and then later I wouldn't have had to sound like a dork. :-)
So then he and Chelsea went away and in spite of fanboy/stalker feelings (like I should go to the Los Angeles or San Francisco gates and wait to watch him leave and/or talk to him again) I didn't do that. ;-)
I went back to my gate and sat and thought about how nice a man he was, and how cool it was of him to talk to me. I would have been happy just seeing him and telling my wife later, but now I had something to even give her! Cool. :)
Also it was a triumph for me largely over fanboy feelings, as I didn't draw attention to him loudly, I didn't say anything obnoxious as far as I know, and no one else even came over while I was doing this. I don't know if anyone else recognized him or not. <shrug>
So I decided this morning to see if there was a site or two out there I could use to contact him and just write him a note of thanks for being so nice, and found your site. Feel free to publish this on your site if you want.
