MindSpring Receives Accolade From PC World World Class Award For Best Internet Service Provider
ATLANTA (June 18, 1998) - MindSpring Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: MSPG) today announced it has been honored with PC World magazine's 1998 World Class Award for Best Internet Service Provider. The award was announced in the July issue of PC World and at an awards ceremony held last evening in New York City.
"This is the most prestigious award MindSpring has received and we are very honored," said Charles Brewer, MindSpring's chairman and chief executive officer. "Our goal is to provide the best connections, software and customer assistance in the business, and it is most gratifying to have our efforts recognized by a publication as prestigious and widely-read as PC World."
Celebrating its 16th year, the respected World Class Awards honor the top hardware, software, and Internet products in the computer industry. To select the best of the best, PC World's editors, testers, and contributors examined the entire gamut of products that have appeared in the magazine over the past year. Hundreds of products in 60 categories were judged on performance, value, consistency and innovation. The magazine also polled its readers to name the best companies for hardware and software support, and for buying computers vial mail-order or online.
"The World Class Awards are synonymous with the best products in the industry," stated Cathryn Baskin, editor-in-chief of PC World. "Throughout the year, we search out the standout players in hardware and software for our readers. The World Class Awards allow us to shine the spotlight on the outstanding products and companies that have consistently proven to be top performers in the marketplace."
MindSpring had previously received a "Best Buy" recommendation from PC World in February 1997.
