MindSpring Acquires Planet Earth Subscribers
ATLANTA (October 7, 1998) - MindSpring Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: MSPG) today announced it has purchased the consumer dial-up Internet subscribers of Planet Earth Communications of Staten Island, New York. MindSpring is a national Internet service provider. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. This is the fourteenth subscriber acquisition MindSpring has announced this year.

In transitioning to MindSpring's award-winning service, each Planet Earth subscriber will receive the MindSpring Starter Kit, which includes MindSpring's user access interface and a complete suite of Internet software for Windows 95, Windows 3.x, or Macintosh; a comprehensive User's Guide; and access to MindSpring's 24-hour toll-free technical support service. Transition of the Planet Earth subscribers should be complete within 60 days.
