MindSpring and OfficeMax Announce Multi-year Marketing Agreement
OfficeMax to Distribute MindSpring Internet Access CDs in Retail Stores

ATLANTA (Aug. 2, 1999)- Leading Internet Service Provider, MindSpring Enterprises Inc. (Nasdaq:MSPG), and OfficeMax, Inc. (NYSE:OMX), a Cleveland based office product superstore operator, today announced plans to distribute co-branded MindSpring/OfficeMax CD-ROMs in all OfficeMax stores in the U.S. The CDs will be available in late summer and will contain the latest edition of MindSpring's Internet access software.

``Partnering with OfficeMax is a natural fit for MindSpring as we continue to expand our product offerings to meet the needs of the small office and home office market,'' said Andy Held, MindSpring's manager of channel sales. ``OfficeMax has more than 880 stores nationwide so this a terrific opportunity for their customers to have easy access to MindSpring.''

``The addition of MindSpring Internet access to OfficeMax's service offerings allows us to provide our small- and medium-sized business customers a one-stop location to acquire the computer hardware and services needed to connect their organizations to Cyberspace,'' said Michael Feuer, chairman and chief executive officer of OfficeMax.

Under the terms of the agreement, MindSpring and OfficeMax will create co-branded CDs that will allow home users to sign up for a variety of MindSpring Internet solutions for home or office use. A special MindSpring access panel will place consumers just one click away from the OfficeMax website, www.officemax.com. Users will also receive a special 30-days free trial and waived start-up fee that is a $25 value.
