Ft. Benning Access Requirements
Fort Benning Checkpoints and Temporary Registration Placard:
Vehicles that do not have a Fort Benning or other DOD installation registration decal must stop at the Visitors Center on the I-185 entrance to the installation and obtain a temporary registration placard. The driver must present a valid drivers license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance in order to obtain the placard. The installation has recently tightened entrance requirements and any vehicle/driver that does not have all the required documents will probably be turned away. All adult passengers must present picture identification in order to enter the installation. You should expect a 15-30 minute delay at the Visitors Center depending on how many other vehicles need temporary registration decals. After the temporary decal is obtained you can enter any entrance to the installation. If asked, the purpose of your visit to the installation is to participate in a rifle match. We recommend that you have a copy of this program in your possession as verification. As changes to the installation entry policies change we will update this accordingly.
Weapons Disclosure and Responsibility Statement:
The Weapons Disclosure and Responsibility Statement is intended for those shooters who do not want to get their firearms permanently registered on post. If you have already registered your firearms on post and have the registration card in your possession you are good to go. Otherwise, download and fill out the form below in duplicate. One for the security guards when you come in to get your vehicle pass and one to keep in the vehicle. If using the Weapons Disclosure and Responsibility Statement you must have the front and back of the sheet.

Installation Firearms Policy:
Firearms must be cased and ammunition must be stored apart from the firearm. Concealed weapons are not allowed and concealed carry permits are not recognized on the installation. Although most vehicles are not searched, the military police conduct random searches that can take as long as 15 minutes. Military police have the authority to verify that firearms and ammunition are being transported in accordance with installation regulations.
Read and heed the guidelines for firearm transportation below. It is up to the individual competitor to abide by all applicable laws.
1. Firearms are to be transported unloaded with the ammunition kept separate. In an automobile this is fairly easy--one in the trunk and the other up front. If you have a truck, insure that either the firearm or the ammunition is cased separately.
2. No intermediate stops that leave a firearm "stored" in your privately owned vehicle are authorized. In other words you can't park at the PX leaving your firearm unattended in your vehicle after leaving the range.
3. All active duty personnel must register any firearm brought on post with the Vehicle/Weapons Registration Facility at Soldier's Plaza.
4. Print out and bring a copy of the match bulletin for the match you will be attending on post. This will prove reason to be on post with your firearm for that match.
