The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is a national non-profit Union that represents employees in the Federal sector. AFGE is the largest federal employee union representing over 600,000 federal employees. AFGE is based in Washington, D.C., and provides comprehensive services for members including legal, legislative, technical, political and union-building assistance. AFGE Local 2113 is the organization that represents Federal Employees at the Naval Air Warfare Center located in Orlando Florida. Our goal is to serve the needs of our employees and to represent their best interests when dealing with the Employer.
AFGE Local 2113 is a democratic organization. Union meetings are held once a month. At the union meetings, members are informed of major issues that affect them including the labor management contract, pay systems, performance systems, and other personnel policies and procedures proposed for changes. Union members also vote to elect the union's officers. Every member has the opportunity to contribute his or her ideas to the organization.
Membership in AFGE Local 2113 is voluntary. Employees join the union for the protection and benefits we offer. Some employees join because they recognize the safety in on-the-job representation. Others join because it gives them the opportunity to vote on issues that affect them at work. Some employees join for the extra financial benefits package available to them as union members. Some join out of a sense of duties to support an organization which does so much for them. Regardless of why people join, it is our job to satisfy their concerns and interests. Our organization is as diverse as the people who make it up, and we enjoy finding ways for everybody to participate.
