September 26 - October 3, 1998.

The ship:

The cruise liner I was on, which I photographed from the dock in Cozumel.
The people at my dinner table. Brenda had just lost her strap; my cabinmate Scott was at the wrong angle, but I was laughing, while Kory was (ahem) being himself :-) ... John was the only one who seemed to know that the picture was about to be taken. Melissa is missing because she found a boyfriend very early on in the cruise.

The Mayan ruins of Tulum, Mexico:

This shows a little more than just the main temple, which is all you usually see in photographs. It's much more impressive in real life.
Behind the Mayan temples is the Gulf of Mexico. In the lower right corner, you see my cabinmate Scott trying to get out of the picture! :-)
A photo of me, somewhere among the Mayan ruins, taken by Scott.

Snorkeling in Chankanaab, Cozumel, Mexico:

I actually took several photos of this kind of fish, before I realized that in Chankanaab, it is about as common as the water.
There were many other fish there. But nothing exciting - well, not in the water, at least... :-)

Petting the tame stingrays at Grand Cayman Island:

These stingrays, I think, are about 2 to 3 feet wide. We were right in the water with them, and this picture does not do justice to the number of stingrays that were swimming among us.
Here, an instructor (on the left) holds a stingray at the surface while a crowd of people pet it. The stingray is content to swim against the instructor's hands for several minutes. (Note: These stingrays have been tamed over the years. Stingrays in most locations around the world will sting you.)

Snorkeling in Jamaica:

I was not impressed with Jamaica. Out of a whole roll of film that I shot while snorkeling, this is actually one of the best. Really, believe me, this is not just due to bad photography. It was really this unimpressive. Also, the fish were too fast - I have several photos of just water! This one does happen to have a fish in it, but I don't think it was the one I intended.
Unfortunately, I have no pictures of climbing Dunn's River Falls. There were some beautiful views, but it wasn't safe for my expensive camera.
