It just shows you what a little more data can do to the picture that has
been presented. Geller has now told the UK press of his resounding
victory in the Japanese libel case against me. In an interview -- which
fails to mention the amount of the damages he was awarded by the court --
he says, "the amount was not important." Well, for a multimillionaire
(which Geller, under oath during deposition, has claimed he is) I guess
he's right. But there's something else that was not mentioned by him,
either: the court in Japan DISMISSED THE LIBEL SUIT BROUGHT BY GELLER,
but found that in Japanese law a tort existed concerning "insult," a
concept not found in US law. It was the insult for which they awarded
Geller the money.
One wonders if Mr. Geller will choose to tell the UK press about the $25
award given him in Hungary following the suit against the newspapers
there? I guess not, After all, the amount is not important, is it?
Life sure is interesting....... JR
