A quick notice....

James Randi --- Wizard (randi-hotline@ssr.com)

Hello all. I've been away, and just returned. A couple of points.....

(1) Please, please, don't send me certified or registered mail. I live
27 miles from my post office, and I just don't make the trip to pick up
these items.

(2) I've a computer virus at the moment, soon to be zapped out, but
putting me in an awkward communications mode right now.

(3) I keep getting the written pledges, but often without the required
envelope, or without the stamp. The instructions aren't too difficult to
follow, folks! Several foreign correspondents have even sent envelopes
bearing stamps of their own countries -- which aren't used in the USA,
guys! This, I repeat, is currently a one-man operation. It's tough
enough to bash out all the mail every day, without these little kinks.

(4) The Japanese TV producer who taped my encounter with the 14-year-old
Taiwanese girl, is now being threatened with lawsuits from her father. As
a consequence, the producer has asked me if he could change the
conclusion of the show so that it's not clearly stated that I won the
confrontation. My answer: no way. She undertook to win the prize, she
agreed to the rules, I was a step ahead of her, and her trick failed.
Now she wants the producer to change the direction of the program. Sigh.

I'll issue a report on that matter anon, post-virus.

J.R.
