Mysticism : The Buddhist Path

Buddhist painting: Chenrezig Introduction to Tibetan Buddhist Meditation & CHANTING FOR WORLD PEACE

with Geshe Thupten Kunkhen
Saturday, May 17,   1:00-4:00 pm

The Edgar Cayce readings advised one seeker to sing out loud the hymns that came to her mind in meditation - saying it would "help someone"... The concept that meditation and chanting create vibrations which can help and heal self and others is at the basis of Medicine Buddha chanting....

Join Geshe Kunkhen as he shares basics of Buddhism, focusing on compassion, faith, wisdom and meditation - leading us into the heart of Tibetan Buddhism with an introduction to Tibetan Buddhist breathing and meditation practice.

Help to create and radiate peaceful, healing vibrations, as Geshe Kunkhen leads us in Medicine Buddha chanting for healing and World Peace.

Admission: $35;   $25 for Members REGISTERED by May 10.

Geshe Kunkhen :
was born in the Tibetan community in Himachal Pradesh in Northern India. (Geshe is a title given to scholars, especially those in the tradition of the great Gelukpa monasteries near Lhasa in Tibet.).   At age 11, he became a novice monk, and at 13, entered the Geshe program at Drepung Loseling Monastery. He received full monastic ordination from His Holiness the Dalai Lama at age 25 and took Geshe exams within the Gelukpa community over a period of six years before receiving the Geshe Lharampa degree in 1999. After additional studies, Geshe Kunkhen came to the U.S. where he has helped act as Chant Master on many occasions, such as the opening ceremonies of the Dalai Lama's public talk in Central Park in 2003. Geshe Kunkhen has been a presenter at A.R.E. HQ in Virginia Beach and is a resident teacher of Tibetan Studies at Tibet House, NYC.
