Hopkinsville, Kentucky celebrated its 10th Annual Edgar Cayce Hometown Seminar on March 15 and 16, 2002. Two wonderfully dedicated local historians, William Turner and D.D. Cayce III showed us the Edgar Cayce sites in Hopkinsville and Christian County. I especially enjoyed the "Beverly Academy," the one-room schoolhouse Edgar attended between 1889 and 1893.
Another highlight was a play about Edgar Cayce called "The Gift," written by Wayne Goolsby. It was refreshing to see an enjoyable play that was also true to the facts. It was performed at the Pennyroyal Area Museum, by the Southern Kentucky Independent Theatre Company.
We also enjoyed an enlightening talk by Dr. Jerry Hedrick, a chiropractor and massage therapist who had trained at the Cayce/Reilly School of Massotherapy.
Carol Haenni, co-author of Anna: Woman of Miracles, spoke of her volunteer work at the Edgar Cayce Foundation. She is continuing her fascinating work with the "Past Life Geographical Locations and Dating Project."
Jeanette Thomas, administrator of records for the Edgar Cayce Foundation and co-sponsor of the Annual Edgar Cayce Hometown Seminar, emphasized the need to find official records to incontrovertibly document the information Cayce gave in his reincarnation readings. At present she feels she has precise information on one or two cases but her goal is to have 10 documented cases. If you are interested in helping with this project , please let us know.
Jeanette is also working on a project to identify and properly photograph all the plants Cayce mentioned as having medicinal properties. This promises to be a definitive work.
This Hometown Seminar will be repeated next year (with speaker variations) and I would recommend it as a wonderful mini-vacation. v
