Spring is the time of growth and new beginnings. Most of our A.R.E. of New York Center members are due to renew their memberships in Spring as well. In 2001, memberships were our largest and most important source of support. "Partners of the Center" (the majority of them at the "Friend" level, but many supporting the Center generously at "Helper," "Co-Creator," or "Benefactor" levels) provided close to $19,000 in support for the Center in 2001. Memberships were followed by practitioner rents ($18,062), and contributions ($13,378) as our primary sources of support in 2001. (see Annual Treasury Report, p.2.) While programs appear to be our greatest source of income, once speaker honoraria (only one of the expenses involved in presenting programs) are subtracted, program income in 2001 was only slightly more than the support received through donations. Similarly, once the cost of purchasing books and products is subtracted from Bookstore receipts, bookstore income is small.
It is very clear that without your generous support through both memberships and contributions, our Center could not be maintained, much less thrive as it currently does. We are working to increase other forms of support for the Center, especially from health and wellness services (see article "The Vision! : Co-Creating Our Next Center!") but in the meantime, your membership is crucial to continuing the Work in N.Y.C. We thank you more than ever, this year! for renewing your membership or becoming a member now and keeping the Light shining in our City!
