Life is hard and being sad sometimes is perfectly normal, but depression can destroy your life. Some signs of depression are sloppiness, tiredness, changes in moods, uncontrollable crying, a feeling of worthlessness, and feelings of wanting to harm oneself. If depression is not helped  it can lead to suicide.
