Uncle Andy's
Roadside Oddities Stand
Welcome. Set a spell. Kick your shoes off. Go to the useful links page if that's what you're looking for; you will find nothing useful here. Just tear the Police Line tape off your favorite chair and lounge around for a while.
The greatest newsfroup (sic) in the known universe is alt.folklore.urban. The signal-noise ratio is somewhat low, but ah, what noise! Call it the Bela Bartok of Usenet. While it is always advisable to read the FAQ and read for a while before posting, in afu, it's critical. The froup (sic again) has its own vernacular, and posting a well-worn old chestnut that you were the last person on earth to discover is a sure-fire road to a brutal ASCII-lashing.
The home of the afu (and assorted other) archives is The Archive Formerly Known As Cathouse.org, now known as urbanlegends.com. Far and away the best read of any FAQ on the 'net.
Strawberry Pop-Tart Blow-Torches. I think the name says it all, don't you?
Sound Bytes: WWW TV Themes Home Page. Digitized sounds of your favorite TV theme songs. I would love to see how many thousands, if not millions, of dollars' worth of equipment is used to transmit the "Mr. Ed" theme.
The Dilbert Zone. My favorite comic strip, with special relevance for anyone who's ever worked in an office. I still can't get my tie to do that. Honest, I had this link up back before everyone did.
HotWired. The Web home of Wired magazine. Should need no introduction.
