He married Sarah Lucretia Cox in Tuscaloosa Co., Al (res. Of James Cox), 30 December 1857. Sarah was born in Alabama 14 April 1835. She was the daughter of James D. Cox and Tabitha Rogers. Sarah died 22 March 1924 at 88 years of age. Her body was interred in Utley Cemetery, Tuscaloosa Co., Al.

She married Shepard Collins in David Utley's Residence, Tuscaloosa Coun, 12 February 1888. Shepard was born in Al. December 1870. He was the son of Andrew J. Collins and Nancy Helen Jones.
