Barney's Army Intro

Quick Facts:
Barney's Army aired from an unknown date in late-Autumn, 1978 until January 14, 1983 on WPTF-TV 28 in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area. At that time, WPTF was the local NBC affiliate. The show aired weekdays from 3pm to 5pm.

The original Barney was black and white for most of his run. In the last year, they replaced the puppet with a color version(See a photo of it here). The original Barney left sometime in late spring of 1981. The new Barney ("Bernard" as he was originally introduced) debuted in late August of the same year.

What's New:

9/26 - BarneysArmy.com is now ONE YEAR OLD! In honor of the occasion, I'm putting up the last 2 clips that I have. First up, a clip which I find hysterical. A viewer created a girlfriend for the small robot, Hector. Her name was Hectrina. In the next clip, Vito tempts Barney with ice cream, followed by a game of Quick Pix.

8/31 - There is now a Barney's Army group on Facebook.

8/29 - Added a new video (Barney fishing) to the Video Vault.

8/13 - Added a new video ("Time for Timer") to Barney's Theater.

6/16 - Added a promotional image of Bernard to the photos.

5/16 - Added another video to the Video Vault. Barney on a... motorcycle? bicycle?

5/3 - Added a new section to the navigation menu called Aniforms. It explains how the puppets worked and shows several examples of other Aniform puppets.
