Colonial Pettipool-Poole-P'Poole Families

IV.c. Ann E.[4] Pettypool (of William[1] , William[2] , Seth[3] ) (born 09/1733 Prince George County, Virginia).

The previously mentioned deed of Seth and Martha to grandson Benjamin may contain a lead to the family of their daughter, Ann (1):

Seth PettyPool of Halifax County, to Benjamin PettyPool of Halifax, for the love Seth has for his grandson, Benjamin, Seth has given Benjamin a certain tract of about 64 acres of land in Halifax County. on the south side of Hico Creek, bounded by John Murphy, Howard Hurst, Pinson's branch, Byrd, Thomas Wiler; signed: Seth (X) PettyPool, Haden Pryor, Ginor (X) Roach, Martha (X) Crook, John (X) Whit, Fredrick (X) Tally; 4 Mar 1773, rec: 17 June 1773

The witnesses to this deed may indicate relationships of John Witt to Seth Pettypool. John Whitt was a near neighbor as indicated by the 1782 Tax List of Halifax Co., VA (2):

John Whitt left his will in Halifax County in 1788 (5), naming sons Peter and Pool Whitt, and daughter Martha Whitt, suggestive of a close relationship to Seth and Martha Pettypool:

1788 May 15, John Whitt: To my daughter Martha Green..., to Ursilla Whitt alias Pool..., to my son Pool Whitt..., I lend unto my wife Anne Whitt all the rest of my estate both real & personal during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marriage my land to be equally divided among my three sons, William, Peter & Pool Whitt..., my three girls, Mary, Amey & Elizabeth Whitt; Executors: my son William Whitt and my wife Anne Whitt; signed: John (his x mark) Whitt; witnesses: Jacob Faulkner, Stephen Hughes, Joseph Hughes, John Watson; securities: William Kent, Simeon Glenn; proved 25 May 1789
