Lil' Davy awoke on his birthday, so excited because he knew it was just going to be a fantastic day. He dressed quickly and rushed to work, where he just knew his coworkers would surprise him with a fantastic party, gifts, and fanfare.

When he got to work, he eagerly walked through the office to his desk. But no one even wished him a Happy Birthday, much less had any presents or fanfare. Hmmm, he thought. I know! They're going to surprise me and take me out for a birthday lunch.

But, alas, lunchtime came and went. Still no birthday wishes. Well, he thought. They must be taking me out after work for drinks and dinner and a big celebration. Quitting time came and still no one had even so much as wished him a Happy Birthday. So he sadly went home alone.

On the way, he had a magnificent thought. They're going to give me a surprise party!

He slowly opened his door, just knowing that all his friends would leap out and wish him a surprise Happy Birthday. But, there was no one there.

Suddenly, the door bell rang! He leapt to the door and flung it open to find a Western Union messenger with a telegram in his hand. Finally, he thought, they've sent me a fantastic singing telegram for my birthday. What a great gift!

The messenger simply said, "I've got a telegram for you." And he started to hand him the yellowed message envelope.

"No, wait!" exclaimed Lil' Davy. "It's a special message and I want you to sing it to me!" The puzzled messenger opened the envelope and said, "We don't actually do that bit much any more and I don't think you really want me to sing this telegram, do you?"

"Yes, yes!" Davy said excitedly. "I insist! You've gotta sing it to me. It's my Birthday!"

"Okay," the messenger replied, as he looked at the telegram and began to sing,
