| If you are a licensed amateur radio operator, we need your help! With terrorism on the rise and Homeland Security increasing it's protocol, we will need your help, at the Communications Center, in the field, from your car, and from your Home. Your house bound? YES YOU CAN BE OF GREAT ASSISTANCE! We need "off site" operators to pass traffic both formal and informal and both into and out of the county, make and take phone calls for additional help, equipment, to agencies, etc., be an Alternate Net Control Station shold the main center go down, need backup, or relays, work as a Net Control Station to gather resources, as general information, or guide operators to their assignments that are not familiar with the area - all from your home! You don't realize how valuable your services can be even if your at home! We may not have phone lines working in the area of the disaster-most likely they will not be working. We may need to contact additional teams, members or get specialized equipment to the teams in the field. YOU can be that VITAL LINK! We also need operators in the "FIELD" at shelters to report the number of people there, food needed, bedding requirements, medical concerns, and special needs. We need operators at the local hospitals to help keep track of the available beds, alert the staff of injuries that and inbound to them, supplement hospital temporary phone outages, etc. There are 100's of ways you can help with the skills and knowledge you already have! All you need to do is attend one of our meetings when we are taking photographs for the ID cards, fill out the basic forms and pick up your ID card so when you are needed-you can get through those road blocks! We will be looking forward to seeing you this year and hope you become an active Em-Comm Team member! Please check the calendar for photo dates. |
