update, october 2005:
* things have changed significantly for helen & betty, and they can now be found at their new site, www.myhusbandbetty.com. * helen authored a book called My Husband Betty, published in 2003 by Thunder's Mouth Press, which is in its 4th printing and was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award. * likewise, cdod is no longer open to new members, but helen started CDtgOD, which is also a group for couples online. * there are also the community message boards which you're invited to come take part in. * note: this site was originally designed way back in 2000, and i'm leaving it like so for the sake of posterity. below is the text of the original site. first off,let me say that the only reason this website exists is for the sake of getting the word out about crossdressing. a few years ago i met the love of my life and he told me shortly thereafter that he liked to wear women's clothes. it was a bit like that scene in the film Ed Wood, you know the one:
"Does that mean you don't like sex with girls?" "No, I like sex with girls." "well - okay." that was pretty much how i reacted - & how i continue to react. there are some days when i think "what am i doing mixed up with this freak?" & others where the idea of dating a cd feels rebellious and wonderfully so. othertimes it's just sexy as hell. in the meantime i have started a mailing list for cds and sos. my intention was just to create a community wherein we could talk about the issues involved in being a cd (or living with one) and to share our lives in a way we often can't with the outside world. sometimes it's a difficult life, but sometimes just knowing there are others like you can be reassuring. since this is a brand-new website, it's still pretty barebones. i have just started a series of essays about my experience as the so of a cd. the first one is here. there is also an essay which i found to be informative, amusing, and true. & here's a list of books i'd recommend, for various reasons. there are also more pics of us, of course!
CDOD is no longer open to new members. Send mail to helen b. |
