The Basement, Nashville,
TN...April 27, 2001
I never personally got to see Big
Country in concert growing up but have
followed Stuart Adamson and his
bandmates music for many years. Marcus
Hummon I had heard of through songs
like "Ready to Run" but had never heard
him sing, when I heard the two
were teaming up I actually didn't know what
to think though I loved the idea
of mixing celtic sounds with folk rock. I
had to drive 4 hours to get to
the concert but I've got to tell you it was
more than worth it! They played
for 2 hours and each song stood solidly on
it's own. The two exchanged leads
on every other song and there harmony was
superb. If you can imagine a cd
in which every song could be the title
track, thats what it felt like!
There were moments of soft beautiful
ballads like the awesome song "My
only crime" and songs that rocked the
stage like "Shattered Cross". They
even played a few Big Country songs that
made the night perfect. Sometimes
you just don't want a show to end! I
advise any fan of Stuart Adamson
or for that matter any fan of celtic folk
rock NOT to miss this one! It's
amazing!
