When Bally released Wizard in 1975 they had a hands down breakout pinball success. Following on the heels of the album Tommy by the Who, and then the release of the movie of the same name early in 1975, Wizard captived the public. Over 10000 machines were released. |
Flip flags lining the right side of the playfield were first released on Wizard. Dave Christensen supplied the artwork for what has become a pop art cultural masterpiece. Visual elements from the film are scattered throughout the playfield and backglass.
Roger Daltry and Ann Margret surround the credit window. Ann Margret was also featured in the flyer. Greg Kmiec was responsible for this wonderful playfield design. |
Wizard continues to fascinate pinball players to this day. With a Double Bonus, Free Balls, Specials, and over 15 different ways to add bonus points, Wizard is a challenging and fun game to play. |
