I have to chuckle a bit when I see this one. If there is ANYTHING that you can think of as POSITIVE coming out of the youth culture today, it is a move towards diversity in the modes of dress and grooming. I think it is good when you have to look past the external appearance of somebody in order to find the person inside - the person that Jesus Christ loves just as they are. It also makes it easier to accept people of other nations and cultures, whose appearance or grooming might be quite different. I am getting quite fond of attending church in informal, comfortable attire. It is really nice not to have to run home and change clothes after church, so I can pursue other activities in the afternoon.

This passage is talking about the fifth trumpet judgement on the earth in the Great Tribulation. I am aware that many Godly men disagree about the exact sequence of events in the end times. Perhaps the particular critic posting this passage was a "post tribulation rapture" person. I don't know. But I do know that the description of these nightmarish beasts has nothing whatsoever to do with Christian rock musicians. No Christian rock musician I know of has a scorpion tail with a stinger, and goes around stinging people - putting them in agony for 5 months. These events are to come in the future.
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, NOR EFFEMINATE, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor 6:9-10
This is a clear case when King James' own propensity towards homosexuality caused him to water down the Word of God for his own purposes (see my KJV essay for proof of King James' sexual orientation). A better translation reads:
9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. --- I Cor 6:9-10
Having lived in a city with a large homosexual population, I think I can shed some light on the topic. Many times, one partner becomes dominant, assuming the "male" role, and the other submissive, assuming the "female" role. A good many homosexuals will masquerade in a "macho" role - assuming the stance of a muscle builder, etc. A good example of such behavior is the secular musical group "The Village People" - Therefore, not all "male prostitutes" are "effeminate". Some of them will assume very masculine appearance - to attract customers of the opposite role. The King James Bible has translated "male prostitute" incorrectly as "effeminate".

3. Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 4. If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. 7. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9. neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10. For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head. 11. In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. 13. Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14. Say - WHAT?! This passage stretches II Tim.3:16 to the LIMIT! If you insist on interpreting the Bible literally, as the Christian rock critics do, then all women who have short hair are disgraced. And women coming to church with uncovered heads should have their hair cut off. Well, the simple fact is that nobody literally obeys this passage any more, including Christian rock critics. So I think it is a bad idea for them to cite this scripture that they themselves do not obey.
I have enough respect for the Word of God, and this passage, to say that the basic concept of the passage is that men and women are different, with different roles in life and the church. At least Paul had the presence of mind to include verse 16.
I don't know about long hair on men. Kevin Sorbo - who portrays Hercules, Joe Lando - who portrays Sully on Dr. Quinn, and the wrestlers of the WWF/NWO do NOT look "effeminate". I would not advise anybody to go up to them and accuse them of that. I suspect they would not react well, and the person confronting them would be lacking a few teeth for the effort!
