LINER NOTES

The past 12 years have seen Cold Shott and The Hurricane Horns work to become a powerful mainstay in the Arizona R&B, Blues and Soul circuits as well as performing at many special events venues and concerts. We are excited for the opportunity to share this live recording with our fans, new and old!

This CD is a fun, raw, lively and an often-candid celebration of the music that best defines the spirit of the band.  It is a formal testament of the talents of its members, many of whom have played professionally for 30+ years; not only in Arizona but all across the United States!  We are especially excited to showcase the strong and soulfully inspired vocals of our local legend, ‘Small Paul’ Hamilton, who has entertained the Arizona and Southwestern U. S. crowds for 40 years.

The band also presents this recording as a loving tribute to our manager, bassist and founding member, Ted “Madman” Kowal, who passed away in early July 2002.  Ted’s 35 years of professional performance in Arizona is pinnacled by his 12 years as the leader and heart of Cold Shott and The Hurricane Horns.  His uncanny ability to keep as many as 10 band members successfully forging ahead with his musical vision is a true inspiration. This CD was in his plans for the last year or so. It is our pleasure to achieve one of Ted’s goals and to include several tunes he authored……..in honor of the man that our families call boss, big brother, best friend and, of course, husband and dad.

Get up, dance and enjoy yourself !!  ‘Cause if you got the blues, don’t let it get you down…..dontcha know we’ll be around!!

Our sincerest thanks to…

…our families, friends and fans who have supported our efforts and celebrated with us all of these years….Bob Corritore, Clarke Rigsby and their staffs for their faithful support and generosity….George, Thad, Gary, Spence, Larry, Bryan, Dennis and Lee for helping keep our equipment in good repair….the club owners, agents, promoters and media for their trust.…the Phoenix Blues Society for believing in us….the local music dealers who always lend a helping hand….an original Hurricane Horn, Jerry, for his gracious contributions….all band members, past and present, for their talent and inspiration….our fellow musicians for their friendship.…the Kowal Family for encouraging us to keep on-track with Ted’s dream….and to Ted, who brought us all together and invited us to play in his band!
