THE JIM GLASS BENEFIT SHOW

November 23, 2003

The Rhythm Room – Phoenix, AZ

In September 2003, Jim Glass, a well-known and well-traveled Arizona musician of 25+ years, was diagnosed with leukemia.  Because Jim’s performance history has covered so many bands and genres (blues, jazz, country, rock) during his residence in Arizona, it was truly heart-warming to call upon and obtain the support of so many great local performers on behalf of a benefit show that we hosted at The Rhythm Room.  As Jim has performed and still performs with many of the members of Cold Shott and The Hurricane Horns, it was a natural assignment for us to coordinate the event in the Phoenix Area. The event workers, musicians who donated talent and equipment, organizers and nightclub staff made it easy for us to manage everything from the very first phone call!

Jim has called the Prescott Valley area his home for a few years now, but he still performs on a regular basis throughout Arizona and especially in Phoenix metro.  It was an honor for all of us to participate in this ‘celebration of music’ with Jim and LuAnn and we hope that the memories of the fun, the great musicianship and charity from Jim’s musical family keep a warm and comfortable feeling with them and help them stay strong!

Here’s a message from Jim…….

“To all the organizers and musicians, Rich Brydle and Cold Shott and The Hurricane Horns, The Phoenix Blues Society, Bob Corritore and the Rhythm Room staff and Bill Chesser………a very sincere thank you for the Jim Glass benefit and tribute. It was one of the most outstanding moments of my life.  To see the love and support of the blues community makes me proud to be alive and doing what comes naturally--it's been phenomenal”.     Love,  Jim Glass  11-24-03
