Advance Parole Appointment
We returned from a Memorial Day weekend trip to find a letter from the INS in the box. As usual, there's a combination of anticipation and fear whenever you see "INS" as the return address. It was postmarked 24 May.
Inside, an appointment letter for the Advance Parole interview, scheduled for 11 June. Assuming the meeting goes well, she'll be granted permission to re-enter the U.S. if she leaves- which would be nice because we're having the church ceremony (our second wedding, if you count City Hall) in August at her town in Poland. She has been away from home since 5 August, almost a year, so she can't wait to go.
I have no idea if the inquiry from the Congressman expedited this. We were expecting it within 90 days from the time we sent the petition which would have been June. so, either INS is a wee bit ahead of schedule, or the Congressman's inquiry sped things up by a few weeks. Regardless, we're happy to have an appointment.

Getting Attention
We recevied a letter from our Congressman's office. It's a note from the Congressman attached to a letter they received from the INS based on their inquiry.
The INS received the inquiry on 4/22, basically the next business day after we sent the Congressman our information. Pretty impressive, indeed. And the Congressman received the notice that INS was looking into it a week later.
Apparently the INS has a"Congressional Unit" which was news to me. They deal with requests such as mine, which come through official sources, and by the looks of the stationery they mean business. The letterhead has "Congressional Unit," the INS logo and "GIVE THIS YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION!!!" on it. It indicates that my Congressman wants to know the status of my wife's I-131 Advance Parole, and that a response to the Congressman is due by 22 May.
So, we wait.
