The Church around the Corner

The Church around the Corner (CAC) is a program for youth and their families. In CAC, we will explore our Jewish and Christian roots by visiting several local churches and synagogues for religious services. Our visits will include a Shabbat Service, a Catholic Mass, and services at several protestant churches, including the United Church of Christ, Baptist, and Methodist. We will have a meeting before each visit to prepare for the service so we will get the most out of our visit. Each visit will be followed by a discussion. This is a family program for both high school and middle school youth and their families. It will take place on an occasional basis through out the year.

Coming of Age

Coming of Age (COA) is a program for youth who are 13 or older and want to explore their faith and Unitarian Universalism in depth on an individual basis. Youth are carefully paired with an appropriate adult mentor and member of the church and undertake a course of study which may culminates in a ceremony which is held during a Sunday morning service. It can be compared with confirmation or a bar/bat mitzvah. The Coming of Age curriculum is similar to requirements for earning a Boy Scout or Girl Scout badge in religion. This program is tailored to the individual youth. Contact Charlie Kast, the parish minister for more information.
