Religious Freedom Home Page
This page is dedicated to opposing the separation of church and state extremism which has taken all too strong a foothold in the body politic. Here, we refute the historical revisionists as well as those who would misinterpret the Constitution to make the case that the Founding Fathers wanted to divorce religion completely from government.

"Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of  human happiness, these firmest  props of the duties of Men and Citizens."

Welcome to the Religious Freedom Home Page! We certainly
hope that your stay here is as enjoyable as it is enlightening.

To get started, we first present you with a quick summary which
provides an overview of the whole thing. Next, we ask the
question, "What is separation of church and state extremism?"
And then provide the answer. Next, we define religious freedom

Having dispensed with the definition of terms, we move on to a an
overview of The First Amendment of the United States
Constitution. Next, we relate some problems with separation of
church and state extremism. Added to this are some historical
examples of religion intermixed with government in the U.S.
Concluding this section is Supreme Court Justice Stewart's
dissent in Engel v. Vitale, the case which declared that teacher-led
non-sectarian prayer in public schools is unconstitutional.

We finish off the presentation of our position with a hefty letter
from former Alabama Governor Fob James to Judge Ira DeMent,
which brings out a great deal of historical and legal information
pertaining to this subject.

Then, take a brief look at the other extreme as we examime some
historical examples of state-established religions

To end the whole debate, a moderate solution is presented.

By now the casual reader might wonder, "What is the historical
and/or legal evidence of all of this stuff?" In response to that,
sources of information are included.

Finally, take a quiz to see how much you've learned here (or how
much you already knew).

And if you're still here after all of that, browse through some
additional links that might be of interest.

Your complaints, comments, gripes, etc. are certainly welcome.

Once again, enjoy your stay!
