| Taken from Yale Obituary Record: Edwin Forrest Rouse, B.A. 1874. Born June 17, 1852, in Clay, N. Y. Died August 27, 1928, in Pasadena, Calif. Father, James Madison Rouse, a manufacturer of lumber and salt in the Saginaw Valley, Mich.; son of William and Rebecca (Spore) Rouse; ancestors came from England and settled in Greenwich, R.I., later moving to Lake George, N.Y.; George Rouse moved to Baldwinsville, N.Y., in 1809. Mother, Margaretta (Chambers) Rouse; daughter of Enoch and Sarah (Hungerford) Chambers. Bay City (Mich.) High School. First dispute appointment Junior year; second dispute appointment Senior year; sang in College Choir Senior year; member Delta Kappa. Read law in office of Rugers & Jenny in Syracuse, N.Y., in 1875, but gave up the profession of law on account of ill health; engaged in the manufacture of lumber and salt at Bay City 1876-1883, at first in partnership with his father under the name of Rouse's Mill and from 1879 in partnership with his brother, William B. Rouse, under the firm name of Rouse Brothers; from 1883 to 1920 engaged in manufacturing under his own name, at first of miscellaneous articles and from 1894 of heading, with factories in Bay City and Omer, Mich.; in the coal business in Bay City from about 1920 until his retirement on account of illness in January, 1928. Married June 18, 1879, in Syracuse, N.Y., Georgianna, daughter of Ambrose and Dorothea Emily (Williams) Sadler. Children: Dorothea (B.A. University of Michigan 1905), the wife of Orrin K. Earl (B.A. University of Michigan 1902); and Robert Burton (M.E. University of Michigan 1907). Mrs. Rouse died August 30, 1922. Death due to chronic myocarditis. Buried in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Bay City. Survived by daughter, son, a sister, Miss Fredda Rouse, and a brother, William B.
