So far there is only circumstancial evidence that George Coss Jr. is the son of George Coss Sr and his first (as of yet unknown) wife, whose marriage produced 6 sons and 1 daughter. Since the seven sons of George Coss Sr. and Mary Cleckener are known, one can assume that George Jr. is a son of the first marriage.4
The 1830 census of Pease Twp., Belmont Co., Ohio lists all seven of the Coss brothers as well as a George Coss Sr. in the 80-90 year-old range, the only one old enough to be the father of the seven brothers.4 |
