| Residences: 17 Jan 1877: on a farm in Pike Co., IL 1901: on a farm in Jewel Co., KS 1907: on a farm in Barber Co., KS 1920: Barber Co., Valley Twp., KS 1926: on a farm in marion Co., KS4 John Francis Coss and Cordia Mae (Athens) Coss were married November 20, 1901 in Mankato, Kansas. They moved to Isabel, Kansas in 1907 to the farm they purchased 1 1/2 mile southwest of town and is presently owned by their daughter Margaret Coss Jewell (Mrs. Willard S.) of Peabody, Kansas. The Coss family was very active in the Methodist Church. In 1926 the family moved to Peabody, Kansas where they lived until their deaths. Mrs. John Coss passed away in 1948 and John Coss in 1976. Their daughter Margaret Faye Coss Jewell was born at Isabel in 1910. She attended school in Isbel until moving to Peabody and was graduated from Peabody High School in 1927. She attended Wichita University and Emporia State, taught school for 5 years until her marriage to Willard S. Jewell. She has always been active in music activities and has been church organist at Peabody United Methodist Church since 1943. She still is interested in the farm which was operated for many years by Franklin House and now Rodger House.
