SCHULENBURG--Funeral services for Harold Wayne Kornegay, 72, were held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998 at Schwenke Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg with burial in Andrews Chapel Cemetery in the Hackberry community near Schulenburg. Mr. Kornegay died Friday, Feb. 20 in Houston from complications suffered following a stroke he suffered on Dec. 8. He was born Sept. 10, 1925 in Lubbock County to J. Dewitt and Mayzelle Walker Kornegay. He attended Rockdale schools, served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad. He married Christine Elizabeth Neatherlin on April 27, 1947, in Houston. She preceded him in death on July 25, 1970. He later married Jeannine Jewell Johnson on June 12 1971 in Arlington. Mr. Kornegay is survived by his wife, Jeannine Kornegay; a daughter, Sondra Kae and husband Harold Dozier of Dallas; a son, Keith Dwayne and wife Georgia Kornegay of Spring; a step son, Dewayne and wife Karen of Burleson; a step daughter, Terry Brock of Crowley; two brothers, Clarence Kornegay of Des Plaines, Illinois, and Gene Kornegay and wife Joy of Rockdale; two sisters, Ruth Cass of Deer Park and Geneva Young and husband George of Rockdale; and 10 grandchildren.
