On October 2nd, 2002
the radio news show All Things Considered (National Public Radio) ran a story
on Sandow Birk, an artist who created a series of paintings and a video
‘mockumentary’ on a fictitious war between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I like the idea of it and the breadth and
scope of the work. Birk also apparently
painted a series of works depicting every maximum security prison in
